Mark van Gils

Biography: 

Mark van Gils is Principal Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. He is leading the Signal and Image processing team in the area ICT for Health. He received his M.Sc. degree in Applied Physics from the Technical University Eindhoven in 1990. In 1995 he obtained a Ph.D. degree from the same university at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. His main activities include project management (national and international research and development projects), R&D project work (biomedical signal processing and statistical analysis), and setting-up new research projects. He holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor in the area of physiological signal processing at the Aalto University in Helsinki and lectures courses in biomedical signal processing at that university.
He has (co-)authored over 90 scientific publications. He is Associate Editor of the journals IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine as well as Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine.
